Writing is the most difficult skill in learning English, and one of the skills that will be master by the students. This research concerns with a study on the teaching writing ability of recount text by using video on eighth grade at SMPN 1 Lumbang. The subject this research are the students of eighth grade on second semester of 2014-2015 academic years.The researcher used qualitative research as a design. The researcher found that both English teacher and student got some difficulties in teaching and learning Writing in recount text. Finally, the researcher concluded that the teaching writing by using video could stimulate and motivate students to become more interested and creative in learning writing
